In short

The Niche Zero is a grinder with 63mm conical burrs and stepless adjustment, typically $750–$850. It suits setups from $1,000 upward and single-dosing. It is the wrong choice for tight budgets and speed-first mornings.

How it fits

Preinfuse ratings, not measurements. Each one is produced by published rules from the specifications below — open any row to see which facts moved it.

What it does well

  • 63mm conical burrs — the largest here, and a genuine step up in capability.
  • Only 4.8 inches wide, which is extraordinary for this burr size.
  • Purpose-built for single-dosing: no hopper, no purging, change coffee whenever you like.
  • Stepless collar with reference markings, so you can return to a setting.
  • Doses straight into a 58mm cup.

Where it gives ground

  • Costs as much as some of the machines it will sit next to.
  • Slower than a Sette; this is a considered grinder, not a fast one.
  • Allow 17 inches of height with the lid up, not the 12 inches on the spec sheet.
  • Sold largely direct, so availability and support vary by region.

Buy it for

  • Setups from $1,000 upward
  • Single-dosing
  • Small counters with high standards
  • Anyone who wants to stop buying grinders

Look elsewhere if

  • Tight budgets
  • Speed-first mornings
  • Households wanting hopper convenience

Living with it

Weigh a dose into the cup, tip it in, grind, and the grounds fall into the 58mm cup. Adjust on the collar against your own reference mark.

Before you buy

The usual mistake is buying this alongside a $400 machine. It will make that machine better, but the money is better balanced with a Gaggia Classic Pro or above.

Check the lid-up height against your cabinets, not the closed height.

Why this, not the DF54?

The Niche Zero is ahead on control over the shot, and the DF54 does not lead it on anything we rate. The reason to prefer the DF54 is price or availability, not capability. The DF54 also costs less, at $230–$300.
