You expect to still be refining this in three years.

In short

The Profitec GO is a semi-automatic with single boiler heating and a 58mm portafilter, typically $1,000–$1,200. It does not include a grinder, so budget for one alongside it. It suits espresso-first enthusiasts and small kitchens with high standards. It is the wrong choice for milk-heavy households and back-to-back drinks.

How it fits

Preinfuse ratings, not measurements. Each one is produced by published rules from the specifications below — open any row to see which facts moved it.

What it does well

  • PID-controlled brass boiler and a 58mm bottomless portafilter included — no immediate accessory spend.
  • 8.3 inches wide, which is remarkable for a machine of this build.
  • Insulated boiler and a 2.8L tank, the largest here.
  • German-built and designed to be opened and serviced.

Where it gives ground

  • Single 0.3L boiler: steam is adequate for one or two drinks, not a round of them.
  • 900W on US voltage, so heat-up and steam recovery are slower than the European version.
  • Fifteen inches tall with the tank on top — check wall cabinets.
  • No pressure gauge and no pre-infusion.

Buy it for

  • Espresso-first enthusiasts
  • Small kitchens with high standards
  • Buyers who want a machine they can service
  • Upgraders from a Gaggia Classic

Look elsewhere if

  • Milk-heavy households
  • Back-to-back drinks
  • Buyers who want a gauge to learn from

Decided?

This machine needs a grinder. The pairings below are the ones that suit it, or the setup builder will split a budget across both.

Living with it

PID reaches its set point, then grind, tamp into the bottomless portafilter and pull. Steaming is a separate mode with a short wait.

Where people go next: Lelit MaraX PL62X, Breville Dual Boiler.

Before you buy

The bottomless portafilter is a real teaching tool — it shows channelling immediately — but it also means bad technique makes a mess.

If milk drinks dominate, the extra money for a MaraX buys a boiler five times the size.

Why this, not the Anna PL41TEM?

The Anna PL41TEM is ahead on being forgiving to learn on and control over the shot. If that is what matters to you, it is the better buy. The Anna PL41TEM also costs less, at $600–$750.
